One of the most identifiable features , at first glance ,of the Lizard Canary is the cap. The feathers of the cap , in contrast to the body, wings and tail, are clear. The cap should be an elliptical shape starting at the beak , extending over the eye and ending in a smooth curve at the back of the head. A perfect clear cap is rare with many birds showing dark feathers to some degree , and this gives rise to the classification terminolgy , clear cap , broken cap , non cap etc.
