[LIZARD CANARY ASSOCIATION SHOW]
NOVICE TOPS THE CLASSIC.
The Lizard Canary Association Classic show 2010 saw 208 Lizards benched, which was a very pleasing as so many breeders had reported bad breeding results. We also had 3 exhibitors from Scotland for the first time for a number of years and very welcome you were too.
This show always displays the cream of the Lizards in the UK and this year was to be no exception. Judges Dave Ross & John Record were going to have the work cut out with some classes have more than 24 exhibits.
But the day was to be a day to remember for one person, that person was Novice Exhibitor and LCA treasurer Bridget Boulton who took Best Lizard in Show with a Broken Cap silver Hen.
This is the first time a Novice breeder has take the top honours at the LCA classic, a really achievement for Bridget. She was in a daze the rest of the day, I hope she remembered some of the day!
Judges Dave & John said the Novice section was very strong with two or three Novices having some out stand birds, Bridget also took second best novice Lizard as well other Novice exhibitors that had a good team was Peter Gooda who won a few classes with some very nice birds especially his gold’s..
Second best Lizard & Best Champion Lizard went to Joe Coakley with Broken Cap Silver cock.
3rd/4th & 5th Best Lizard went to Stan Bolton, Stan’s 3rd Best was a Clear Cap Gold Cock, his 4th Best was a Clear Cap Gold Hen and his 5th Best which was also best Over-Year was an over-year gold cock, this bird had very little white on it flights.
John Record said that over all the quality of the birds was very good but the Golds were slightly better than the silvers.
I would like to thank everyone who showed at the show and made it such a great show. Special thanks must go to a few people our friends from Scotland who never stopped working from the Saturday night to the end of the show on the Sunday evening helping put the staging up and take it down.
Thanks to the two Judges Dave Ross & John Record, to Huw Evans for the show secretaries role. Our Chairman John Martin for the role of Show manager.
To Tracy & Kayleigh Allen for the wonderful lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
And finally to David Allen for all the sponsorship he acquired once again.
